Children's Ministry
Bringing God’s kingdom to the children:
As a church we place a very high value on ministry to children and families. Children are a special gift from God, and we believe that he views these early years as very important and formative. We have assembled a team of leaders and teachers who are committed to this cause of helping to bring children into a loving relationship with Jesus.
It is also our desire, as we minister to the children, that we bring them in touch with the destiny and plans that God has created for them. We believe that the Lord wants to raise up a generation of disciples who will follow him with all their hearts, and who will stand up for truth and righteousness in this dark world. God desires to equip these children for this task, so that they can become the pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets and parents of tomorrow.
Welcome to Vineyard Church's Children's Ministry
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 says;
These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.
In this passage the task is enormous and the purpose is clear; make disciples of our children and teach them about Jesus. Here scripture points out our parental responsibility and yet many parents have never even given this a thought. In the past I have encountered people who thought it was the church’s job to make disciples; yet when we take a closer look this is faulty thinking.
Our purpose is to assist you in what you are doing in the life of your child to show them Christ. When you consider that we only see the children for about 2 hours a week at the service we cannot be responsible for the discipleship of your kids. We definitely want to help but your kids will learn more from you than from our ministry. You are the person who is to disciple your children.
The primary responsibility of discipleship happens in the home and we are here to help. You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to talk to your child about the Bible. If they ask a question you don’t know just be honest and discover the answer together. You can look yourself in your Bible or online or you can ask your pastor. Our ministry is here to aide you in making disciples out of your children.
Our children are not looking for perfection or the ideal but for something that is real; something they can relate to. Showing them Jesus in every day living is what we can do through our successes and failures, when we do things right and when we are wrong, when we have plenty and when we are in need. It is our responsibility to give our kids a clear picture of who Jesus is in every circumstance.
This is how it works...
